We had to run to the bank this morning to convert our American dollars to Chinese yuan. Because there is a limit to how much each tourist can convert each day, Brock and I both converted money. We had to have 41,000 yuan for our orphanage donation for when we go to the Civil Affairs office to get Shaling (in about an hour). We also have to have yuan for Shaling's visa, Shaling's passport, her medical exam, her TB test, etc.
I thought everyone might get a kick out of the fact that we each converted $4200, but got varying amounts. I guess the American dollar changed in value during the 10 minutes in between my transaction, which yielded 27,608.00 in yuan, and Brock's transaction, which yielded 27,625.70.
I've got two more quick pictures to show as well:
Brock poses with the statue outside of Lucy's.
Preston poses with a statue family in front of the entrance to a small park. You can walk through the park to get to the Pearl River.
